Jamie Oliver

Sorry for the lack of posts. I’ve been pretty busy now that college is getting started, but I will try to post more regularly. There has been lots of flack about this from Max so I really have got to post tonight!
I have decided that I am going to try and cook one meal per week. Tonight was my first meal and I decided to go with pasta. I figured it would be a good place to start as it’s pretty easy. From my Jamie Oliver cookbook I made Tagliatelle (replaced with spaghetti) with Spinach, Marscapone, and Parmesan. It was pretty good, but as my mom hadn’t cooked it before there was nothing for me to compare it to. After that I went outside and made a huge bonfire in about a minute (pyromaniac) and then sat by the fire for the rest of the night with Max, family and some neighbors. All in all, a good night.
Oh! And last night I asked Max to homecoming on the big screen at the Twins Game. It was awesome and very fun. The Twins played horribly but it too was still a good night.
Anyways, tomorrow the Minnesota Orchestra is putting on a FREE concert at the Lake Harriet Bandshell at 4 PM. Come round, visit me I’ll be volunteering, hear some great music, and support the musicians!

MacBook Pro? MacBook Air?

So I wake up this morning and realize for the billionth time that this computer is (excuse my censored language) poop. I decided I need to get a MacBook Air before I start uni tomorrow and go on a search. Of course I find the perfect one, I get in touch with the owner and am about to set up a time to go get it, and he tells me he sold it. Grrrrr. Then I find another perfect one on Gainsaver.com and my dad goes and looks up their reliability and turns out it’s a scam. Okay so day ruined, no new laptop for Ellie.
Then I head over to Urban Outfitters (yes, yes I know I need to stop shopping, but I was going with my sister to get her some TOMS) and the Apple Store in Uptown. What do I find at Urban?! A pair of BDG Blue High Waist Skinny Jeans for $9.99. That plus my 40% discount makes my purchase a grand total of $5.99. AND I returned a pair of shorts so technically, my trip to Urban Outfitters today was a profit, and not a loss. Kinda.

At the Apple store that was closed but they helped us anyways, my mom’s computer was not fixed but an appointment was made. I on the other hand learned from an “Expert” (this is one of the titles at the store. The people who fix problems are called “Geniuses” hehe) that contrary to what the U of M tech store guy told me, a MacBook Air is NOT the best computer for a student. The MacBook Pro is what he would recommend. So now I am stuck on my first problem of buying a new laptop.

I guess my birthday is in September now…

Today was a very busy day! I set off this morning to the state fair with one half of my family and played around there until about 3. I had so much food it’s not even funny…a cheeseburger, a jumbo root beer (for those of you who know me, it was an exception!), some cheese curds, a peach, lots of sweet martha’s cookies, and of course, milk with those cookies. But what can I say? It’s the state fair! And it only happens once a year.
For dinner my entire family (minus two sisters) and the boyfriend (whom I will not name until he lets me know that that’s cool) went over to Pepito’s for some Mexican deliciousness. After that we were joined by Sophie, ate some red velvet cake and opened the few presents I had left to open. Of course I loved and appreciated all of them :) And I finally got that new wallet I have been looking for to fit all my new cards and stuff! We topped the night off with some Mario Cart and Over the Hedge. Who doesn’t love a little Dreamworks?

Short post tonight, I’ve got a bike ride and picnic tomorrow to look forward to!

cheers!

9-1-12

Hey all! The first day of September is ending and I couldn’t even tell the difference. I guess it just hasn’t really sunk in that summer is over and school is starting yet. But considering I spent about 1 2/3 full days at school this week over a period of 5 days that’s probably why.
To start my day off differently I decided to go with some friends to breakfast! First I had to get to my friend Julia’s house which led me to a new neighborhood/part of town that I had never been to before. Let me just say, the parkway is absolutely beautiful! We met up with two other friends and headed over to Hot Plate, a very cute little restaurant that I had also never been to. I will most definitely be going back as the food is great, the coffee is free, and the neighboring cats were adorable (needless to say, I am allergic). I ended up getting a bit lost on the way home and had to bike longer than I thought but I needed some exercise.
Next I headed to my tongue thrust appointment. I’m not going to go into details, but I will say that my tongue is ruining my already braced teeth so I am NOT about to get those on again, hence the therapy. I decided on some retail therapy afterwards and stopped by my new favorite store Buffalo Exchange. There I picked up a pair of jeans, a romper, a sweater, a shawl/cover up/sweater, and a fancyish tank top. All for only $95! It was a steal.
Had some yogurt lab for dessert and then went to Max’s house for an exciting night watching Captain America. Movie was okay, not bad but not amazing. The best part of the night though was coming home and getting pulled over by a very nice and friendly cop.
While you’re here reading I might as well show you this video that my sister just showed me. Filmed in Minneapolis, over 2 million views, and about the best snacks in the world: Hot Cheetos and Takis.

Sophie/Leo Part 2

continuing…
Today was also lots of fun just like yesterday! It was Leonardo’s birthday and although I didn’t get to see him I’m almost positive he got my telepathic message. This morning I got to go to the uni campus with my mom. We walked to all of my classes and found where all the rooms are such. Then we crossed the river on the very handy pedestrian bridge to visit my step dad Evan in the Physics building. Before returning to the West Bank the two of us stopped at the union bookstore to get my one remaining book and check out all the beautiful laptops. I have now been swayed to the MacBook air and not the MacBook pro. Any thoughts on this all my wonderful imaginary viewers? Macbook Air or Pro? Why? I have to start saving my money either way…This evening I went with my family (it’s quite extensive but there were only 6 of us) to the Guthrie Theater to see Sunshine Boys. I’ll admit it was funny, but the rest of them seemed to enjoy it more than I did. Taking pictures though, now that was fun! And finally to end the night we went for desert at Sea Change, the wonderful restaurant at the theater.

Its late so I’ll let all you go.

Sophie/Leo Part 1

Hujambo world! That means “Hi. How are you?” in Swahili. I think. I start my classes at uni next week and Swahili is one of them! To begin my post I would like to wish my best friend and her twin brother (we’re actually non-related triplets…) the best sweet sixteen ever! Hope you guys had a wonderful two days (their birthdays are on different days!).

So whats been going on with me you ask? Haha no one is asking that, but I’ll pretend. Yesterday (Sophie’s birthday) I woke up and made her some brownies which turned out to be delicious and were gone by the end of the day. Then I hopped on the bus to downtown and got off at MCTC (Minneapolis Community Technical College). I had applied for PSEO there too but was out of town for all of the orientations and signing up for classes and all that. In the end I decided to defer my application there until next semester. The only class that I need to take (health) is full or doesn’t fit into my schedule so I guess I’ll just take it next semester.

Back at home I went to high school and had a good two hours. After school me and the birthday girl walked to her house and then just hung out doing nothing for a few hours. It was wonderful to just relax for a while. We went and picked up some Chinese take out, all the while picking up our other friend Rosie. And finally we walked to the Washburn High School Boys Varsity Soccer game! We have a friend who made the team this year and I was also very surprised by the roster. Lots of all grades its crazy! Soph and I went to sit with our old dance captain and when the game ended we were up 3-1. After the game we walked home with our friends Coletrane and Connor (the soccer player) and hung out with them for a bit.

I was about to conclude that this was a very long post and then I realized that I hadn’t even written today’s news yet! Second post :)

cheers for now!

Rose Gardens

Hello to all 0 visitors to this blog! I guess this blog is to find out more about myself anyways so i don’t really mind. Today was an awesome day! I got to sleep in for the second school day in a row since I only have 2 classes in the afternoon. Then my classes were great and I got to see an old friend who is now in high school (crazy!) shout out to Greta Goetz :) After school I was met by my boyfriend who was wonderful as always. We walked home then rode our bikes to a nearby park/rose garden. With such beautiful weather and him still out of school it was nice to spend some time together outside. All we did was lay down a blanket, put on some music, and talk for a few hours but it was great! Back at home he met my little sister for the first time since she and I had been out of town and she was awkward around him but she’s 13, can she help it?

The best thing though was I went online to the University of Minnesota’s student groups page and searched for one of the only groups I want desperately to join and they had one! Yay to the University Quidditch League!!!! Hopefully I’ll be able to play for them! I’m sure they wouldn’t mind having a fast 16 year old on their team…whatever I’m a student at the U so they’ll have to find another reason not to let me play. Possibly having my birthday dinner on Saturday about 25 days late but hey, its better now than never, right?

Have a nice rest of your night!

Hello World!

I’ve tried blogging before and couldn’t really keep up with the consistency… But this time I really am going to try hard! A little bit about myself and this blog:My name is Elliane Croce and I’m a sixteen year old high school student. This year I am attending the University of Minnesota Twin Cities through a program called PSEO (or Post Secondary Enrollment Options).

As a newly permitted driver, middle child of 7, and confused teenager my life can be surprisingly boring. I expect this first semester to be pretty hectic and busy though, which brings around the purpose of this blog. NatGeoCutter will be a place for me to tell you, the world, about the inside scoop on early college life, mixed with high school life, with some fashion and maybe music mixed in there. When thinking about my future, college (real college i mean…) and stuff, I have no clue what I plan on doing; hopefully this blog might help me find out a little more about myself, and the world around me!
